This novel has been in the works for a very long time. It was really my first completed manuscript and is based in my home state of Rhode Island. As such, it’s near and dear to my heart.
I’ve rewritten the novel multiple times over the past several years to include a recent total POV change. A considerable amount of time went into editing. Last year the manuscript was vetted by a group of BETA readers and then edited again.
Since then, the novel has been sitting in limbo in a file on my computer. I spent some time sending out query’s until I got weary. I was fortunate to garner the interest of a few agents. One agent expressed interest right before the agency closed. If you’ve read my earlier published novel, you know I believe in signs! So I thought, why not try something else?
I have considered self publishing this one as I did, “Secret Agent of God”. At that time self publishing was fairly uncharted territory. Overall it was good experience. I may go that route again next year with this novel.
This blog has been one writing outlet that I’ve sustained throughout my writing journey. I’m very thankful to have readers. What’s awesome is how articles that I wrote years ago continue to reach new readers, like “Ten Buttery Chardonnays for Under $20” from 2014. I’ve also enjoyed a recent boost in traffic from an article I wrote in 2021, “Nesting Box 101”.
It occurred to me after looking at my blog traffic that I had another publishing option. If this book enjoys the same number of monthly views, that would be amazing! Having readers is really the desired end result of writing. It also frees me up to finish my new manuscript, “High Stakes Affair”.
This novel blogging plan was inspired by my love for advent and advent calendars. I’ll blog 2-3 chapters per day from December 1st to December 24th. I have 68 chapters, but they’re short & easily digestible. The book is only 340 pages long. This is proving to be a slightly more ambitious task than originally planned. The blog format requires some tweaking. If you decide to read, please feel free to leave comments.
I’m excited about this prospect and look forward to hearing from readers. I’m also really enjoying using AI for some of the featured images. Let me know what you think.
Here’s the novel pitch:
