If you could permanently ban a word from general usage, which one would it be? Why?

Like…because it’s rarely used properly. It’s often overused in conversation. Plus, there are so many better choices.

  2. The word I would ban would be “should”. And now that I see it in print, I think it looks like a ridiculous word. What does it mean other than an imposition and a negative one at that. Whether inflicting a “should” on myself or someone else, it implies a generally unwelcome suggestion.

    1. An excellent suggestion. It would be a perfect challenge to omit both “like” & “should” from our writing vocabulary.
