Where can you reduce clutter in your life?

I always feel better mentally when my surroundings are neat and organized. A chaotic space for me leads to a chaotic mindset.

The Junk Drawer

I love the feeling of freedom that comes with letting things go, either physically or mentally.

We live in a society that values possessions. But if you think about it, we enter the world with nothing. We leave the way we came.

I consult on a part time basis for a company that helps families downsize and auction their loved one’s possessions. Quite often we are sorting through a lifetime of accumulation. Family members take what they can. But since most already have a full house of their own things, most items are listed for sale.

It makes me think about the weight of things. Do I own my possessions or do they own me?

Do these things provide an anchor for me or do they merely weigh me down?

What do I really need? What can I set free?

If I create space in my environment will help to clear my mind? Will it open up space for new thoughts, for creative expression, for new ideas, or just for quiet contemplation?

I think it’s worth exploring the possibilities!
